The result of the first friendly match of Karpaty in Turkey is a convincing win of the green-and-whites. A club of Polish football top division Ekstraklasa i.e. Jagiellonia Bialystok could not withstand attacks of the Lviv team. Although Karpaty were trailing 0:2 after the first half, smartly made substitutions changed the situation drastically…
Both coaches decided to make changes to their squads comparing to the match that was not finished on Thursday. Tomasz Hajto made four substitutions, Volodymyr Sharan fielded almost a new line-up: Tlumak, Petrivskyy, Kuzmenok, Balazic, Oshchypko, Khudobyak, Martynyuk, Chernykh, Batista, Hudyma and Kostevych.
The Polish decided to act aggressively right from the starting whistle and soon Makuszewski moved from the left flank towards the central zone and sent the ball towards the goal, the ball deflected off Tlumak towards Rasiak, who rolled the ball into an empty net – 0:1. In a similar way Karpaty conceded their second goal. With a minute left to the end of the first half Burkhardt took a free kick from 27 metres. The ball was sent to the central area of the goal, Andriy Tlumak blocked it but Frankowski headed the ball into the goal past the goalkeeper.
Before the beginning of the second half Volodymyr Sharan made a number of substitutions and fielded Bogatinov, Bolohan, Eric and Lucas. The Spaniard soon picked out Hudyma who headed home from close range.
In the 57th minute Mr Sharan added more fresh players to the squad and Hirskyy, Daushvili, Kasyan and Kopolovets came on the pitch. Kasyan scored an equalizer when Oshchypko sent a square pass into the penalty area, where the striker did not miss his opportunity – 2:2.
The last 20 minutes turned into disaster for the Polish team. In the 73th minute Karpaty pulled ahead – long ball from Tkachuk found Lucas and the latter blasted the ball into the goal from just outside the penalty area leaving no chances to the goalkeeper – 3:2! Karpaty players put more pressure on the opposing team, this tactic proved successful soon when Eric collected the ball and finished with a hard struck shot to the lower corner of the net – 4:2. Then Karpaty were awarded a penalty kick when Kasyan was brought down inside the penalty area and Eric scored again – 5:2. And finally Kopolovets and Kasyan organized the last goal scoring when the first one beat the Polish defenders and the second one converted Mykhaylo’s pass into a goal. So the final score is 6:2 in favor of Karpaty.
In two friendly matches Karpaty scored 11 goals – 5 against Obolon and 6 against Jagiellonia, which is a very good result. Almost half of all scored goals are under the belt of the Brazilian player Eric de Oliveira.
