Some say that the end justifies the means. But who needs to pay such a high price for victories in friendly matches? It is difficult to describe actions of Tromso players in this game. The red-and-whites had only one attacking scheme and one defensive one. The defensive actions meant continuous committing fouls against Karpaty players. It seemed the Norwegian guys have never heard about the principle of Fair Play. As soon as Tromso player lost control of the ball, he immediately tried to hack down Karpaty player…

That was obvious right from the start. But then fouls were not so harsh. However in the 12th minute Tromso right back Pritchard in attempt to catch up Levan Kenia jumped in with two straight legs. He did not touch the ball but hit the Georgian’s legs instead. It was apparent that Levan got a serious injury…All Karpaty subs along with the head coach came on the pitch. However Pritchard did not make any apologies. After being shown a yellow card he nonchalantly ran back to Tromso’s penalty area.

Levan was carried off the pitch but it was difficult to provide medical assistance at the scene. The matter is that the conditions of the place were awful, definitely that was the worst playing ground Karpaty saw during all friendly matches of three training camps.

Even net of the goal was holey. In the 30th minute Andersen took a shot from a sharp angle. It seemed first that the ball went wide. But it turned out that the ball might have traveled over the goalkeeper into the goal through one of holes in the net. Norwegian players began hugging and celebrating. Karpaty players did not argue although it is impossible to determine definitely if Tromso really scored a goal even after watching a replay…

In the first half the green-and-whites did not create many goal scoring opportunities due to strong wind and harsh tackles of the opponents. But in the second half our guys acted much better. Zenjov, Holodyuk, Khudobyak, Ksyonz – all these players had very good chances to score an equalizer.

Unfortunately the opposing team kept on kicking, hacking, bringing down Karpaty players. Prijovic was sent off after another harsh tackle against Bidlovskyy and Ciss was shown a yellow card as a result. In both situations respective warnings were absolutely justified.

Thus Karpaty lost to Tromso due to conceded phantom goal. On Thursday morning the team will leave for Lviv and where it will start preparations for the first match of the Ukrainian championship’s second part.
